Drudge Report

Ok, I have been reading the Drudge since before the Lewinsky scandal. I was turned on to this by a developer from Minn. working for me at the time who said you just have to read this thing.

The site makes me feel like I am looking at a 19th century newspaper with the headlines and garble over the page. I really like it - in fact I wish the whole site was B&W as there is limited value in the color images when parsing the information (other than some are very entertaining).

I would like to see more sites with the idea of simple access baked in. Yeah flash can be cool - but how many times can I see the same cool graphic and at what cost to develop that? Simple, three column, b&w site makes parsing the info fast. I would rather have access to cool/new/breaking information - that is the real currency of the web.

Democrats?

Wow, I can't imagine the thought of a roll-call from the hotel. I think I understand that they are trying to avoid having a battle on the floor and to keep others from announcing their support for Clinton but why didn't they just teleconference the entire thing instead of sending people to Denver.

California Supreme Court overturns gay marriage ban

California Supreme Court overturns gay marriage ban

http://users.tc3net.com/wtapp/blogindex.html

1. Overturning a ban does not legalize or legitimize homosexual relationships
2. How can the court put an opinion on this unless the wording in the law was in conflict with something else, and if then why was it not stopped before it went to the vote of the people?
3. How on earth can the court overturn the will of the people? Is there some statute that says California legislative bodies, administrative bodies or the people can be overturned by the ruling on a court?
4. Shame on the author of this article writing in such a way as to imply that this ruling legalizes relationships of this nature.

On a similar tought, why is it that there is no discussion on partnerships beyond traditional man & wife or homosexual relationships? I am not advocating or expressing any opinion on this but if the discussion is going to happen and the camel has his nose under the tent, shouldn;'t we look at the bigger picture?

I suspect the reason why he can't fine enough folks is that he wants to pay them wages in line with Indian workers.

Tiger

Ok, check this...I was looking at the Tiger killing last week at the SF Zoo because I really didn't know what happened. I heard someone was attacked and killed and my wife asked me if I knew what happened. Well I realized I hadn't kept up with the news so I went to find an article on the web and found an old article at http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/12/23/TIGER.TMP, which says that Tatiana the tiger attacked a zoo keeper during feeding time. The keeper was hurt but not killed - hmmm. I looked at the date and it says Dec 23, 2006. I realized that this wasn't the article describing what happened.

So I looked again (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/26/us/26tiger.html?em&ex=1198904400&en=2f5bafe69cad194f&ei=5087%0A) and found the correct article from the NYT that describes the issue happening on Dec 25th of this year. I further read in (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/12/26/MN0LU4M2T.DTL) that the tiger Tatiana is suspected of mauling and killing the boy. (The tiger was also shot by police.) Hopefully the zoo gets is stuff together and manages these very dangerous animals better. Even if the boys were taunting the animal that the result should be death at a place like this. If the animal attacked a zoo keeper unprovoked - what could they expect when the animal was really upset. I believe that this problem is a problem with managing the animals in a proper enclosure. I also believe that the guards and others could have helped if possible to let the boys into other areas. This is unconscionable. I hope the boy's family at least has some solice in the future. My prayers are with everyone who was impacted and with those who need to plan and manage these dangerous animals.
